Xrays (Radiographs) are an important component of a clinical exam. They are used to help diagnose and treatment disease. There are many types of xrays and they each tell us different things about a tooth and its surrounding structures.
We use xrays to view unseen cavities in-between teeth or underneath the gum line, bone loss around teeth, tooth development, tooth position, missing or extra teeth, abscesses, fractures and sometimes tumors.
Digital xrays use less radiation than traditional film xrays. And because they are digital, they are almost instantaneously produced, and are easy to enlarge to view on a computer monitor or tv screen. They can also easily be transferred to another dentist or specialist.
If you have any questions are concerns regarding xrays, please feel free to ask us!
